Neuro-ophthalmology
General Information
This service treats patients with visual disorders due to neurologic diseases and is headed by Dr. Benjamin Osborne. Patients are evaluated in the outpatient clinic and the inpatient neuro-ophthalmologic consultation service.
Disorders that are commonly seen include, but are not limited to: optic neuritis, papilledema, diplopia, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, thyroid orbitopathy, idiopathic intracranial hypertension and nystagmus.
In addition to a comprehensive neuro-ophthalmologic examination, we perform computer automated perimetry, optical coherence tomography and treatment of diplopia with prisms.
An essential component to this program is teaching residents of the ophthalmology and neurology departments, and medical students.
