  • Research Interests: Dr. Amie Hsia is a board-certified vascular neurologist who focuses her clinical research interests on developing and evaluating the effects of acute stroke treatments using multimodal MRI to optimize patient selection and improve patient outcomes.  She is the Principal Investigator of the NIH/NINDS Stroke Program and MedStar Washington Hospital Center and the Co-Principal Investigator of the NIH/NINDS StrokeNet clinical trials regional coordinating center in the Washington, D.C. region.  Her research interests have also included evaluating and reducing the barriers to acute stroke treatment in underserved communities.  She was Principal Investigator of the NIH/NINDS-funded Acute Stroke Program of Interventions to Reduce Racial and Ethnic Disparities (ASPIRE). Dr. Hsia has numerous publications in her area of expertise, and her research work has been published in leading academic journals, including Stroke and Neurology.  Her research in acute stroke treatment and neuroimaging, the delivery of care, and disparities of stroke care has been featured in the national media, including the Washington Post.
