Application Process
Georgetown Neurology participates with the National Residency Match Program (NRMP). All applications are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). To apply to our residency program, please submit all documents through ERAS.
Georgetown is an advanced Neurology Residency Program and applicants need to also apply separately for an internal medicine PGY1 position.
Applications for the Neurology Residency Program must be complete and submitted by October 31st.
We request the following documents:
• ERAS common application form
• USMLE Step 1 transcript (and Step 2 when available)
- Osteopathic applicants: your COMLEX scores will gladly be accepted and reviewed, but USMLE CK scores are still required. Either USMLE Step II CS or COMLEX Clinical Skills exam are acceptable.
• Medical school transcript
• Personal statement
• Dean's Letter
• 3 letters of recommendation, including one departmental support letter ("Chair's letter") for categorical applicants
- A fourth letter of recommendation is gladly accepted
• ECFMG certification is required before starting the residency program
• U.S. clinical experience is required. Observerships do not count as U.S. clinical experience
VISA POLICY: J1 visas are sponsored through Georgetown University Hospital. We currently do not have the ability to sponsor H1B visas.

Our Applicant Interview Selection Committee will begin reviewing applications in September and October. In early November, we will invite individuals by email to visit Georgetown University Hospital for an interview.
